Jenna Burris, MA, LPC, LCPC
Introductions
Hello! My name is Jenna Burris and I am a licensed professional counselor with over 18 years of experience based in Sheboygan County Wisconsin. In addition to being a therapist, I am a mom, a spouse, a voracious reader, a musician, an outdoor enthusiast and a trail and ultra runner. Through personal experience and research, I have discovered and benefitted from the healing properties of nature and being outdoors. It calms our nervous system, creates connection, stimulates creativity and problem solving, provides lessons and metaphor, and brings us back to our anthropological roots.
As a therapist, I have always been an open-minded learner. I integrate many evidence-based approaches (CBT, EMDR, DBT, mindfulness) as well as non-traditional modalities such as outdoor sessions, literature, storytelling, enneagram, somatic-based practices, visualization and more. My outdoor sessions involve movement and include components of nature and eco-therapy. I believe that good treatment includes working with both the mind and the body.
Therapy is offered either in person through walk and talk therapy or virtually online via telehealth. I will bring my most authentic, joyful, curious and non-judgmental self to the table. Together, we will cultivate self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-compassion by reconnecting to ourselves through the natural world.
I work with clients ages 14 and up, and my specialties include:
- Adult and adolescent depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, CPTSD and anxiety
- Life transition, identity, aging and work issues
- Couples and relationship issues
- Women’s issues, infertility, post-partum depression, miscarriage and infant loss
- Special training in: EMDR, mindfulness, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAGALA, PATH)
I am so fortunate to be in the field of counseling and walking with clients through whatever difficulties they are facing. I often say, and truly believe that being a therapist is “the best job in the world.”
